ISLAMABAD: Overseas Pakistani are most likely to exercise their right of franchise in the next general elections as a special inter-ministerial committee has firmed up a unanimously agreed mechanism for the approval of the Election Commission of Pakistan.

Headed by the secretary Election Commission and comprising representatives of the Foreign Ministry, Law and Justice Division, Ministry of Overseas Pakistanis and Nadra, the committee conceded that the overseas Pakistanis have the constitutional right to vote.

ISLAMABAD: Majority of the Taliban groups fighting foreign troops in Afghanistan have once again strongly opposed talks with the US as most of the insurgent leaders are of the opinion that if motives for the assassination of former Afghan president Burhanuddin Rabbani are carefully examined, it becomes clear that Rabbani has been killed only for being authorised to hold talks for establishment of peace.

This is the crux of the details of an informal but important meeting of different Taliban commanders in northern Afghanistan earlier this week. According to details received by The News here on Thursday, different Taliban groups were perplexed whether or not any of their commander might have killed Rabbani. Surprisingly, it has transpired now that the Taliban Movement or al-Qaeda was, however, not involved in the murder of Rabbani.

The real reason, why Americans are seething with anger against Pakistan, is that their efforts to divide a wedge between the Talibans are backfiring on them. The masters who are known for their divide and rule games, are hitting a wall when it comes to the leadership of Taliban, united under Mulla's leadership. 

It is a well known fact that Haqqani are invertible arm of Taliban network not of Pakistan or ISI. Americans are well aware of it, but they are frustrated from their failures and Taliban's refusal to accept the dictate. 

First the yanks tried to use their discredited media to spread the rumour of contacts with Taliban, but it was disclosed that USA were either duped by an impostor like the one in the past who took money of the Americans or it was hoax raised by the Yanks themselves. 

Anyhow, the problem for the Americans is they cannot negotiate with Taliban at the moment unless they meet the demand of withdrawal first. Americans desires to establish their foothold in Afghanistan on permanent basis and installing a puppet like Karzai every time during their presence in Afghanistan is not going to bear fruit. There are going to be no super bases from where smart armies with the help of helicopters and Fighter jets could operate. 

Hence the frustration and anger with Pakistan. After overture with Indians, the Yanks realised, it is a wrong strategy, bringing Indians in would be counter productive. Like I explain, stoppage of supplies not only NATO ones, but to civilian population, including fuel and food, would have catastrophic impact in Afghanistan. People will rise against whatever stooge Government is installed in Kabul by the Americans.

For months the appointment of Naib Chairman is in limbo. First PPP tried to appoint their own man, Justice who belonged to PPP. When that move back fired, PPP brought Admiral Fasih, reports say, he is acceptable to NS. NS is his admirer, if Reports to be believed. But Chaudry Nisar is objecting to his appointment on procedural ground. 

The fact is an independent NAB chief is not in the interest of both these corrupt parties. The list of PPP past corruptions and the lists of shenanigans in current tenure are long and dirty, which obviously would be exposed if an independent person is appointed from a pool of candidates, with the support and consultation of CJ. 

Similarly, PMLN also fears that their old cases could be used by Zardari and his criminal thieves to pressure PMLN near the next elections. 

Therefore, I have this feeling this saga is not going to be resolve before next election. What a shame, no NAB, giving PPP card blanc at the movement to lot the nation's resources whichever way they want. 

Long live Democracy, it surely is the best revenge of PPP on Pakistani people.
